A 6
week old Mom, I still find it difficult to believe that a thing that grew my belly and finally tore off me and into the world is a real deal, a real
moving eating pooping wailing deal. The tearing off bit was painful what with the epiciotomy and vaccuum-assisted delivery. At the cost of sounding 'unmotherly' that pain did not go
away magically when I held the strange little delicate thing in my arms.
There are days when I am bogged down by the marathon nursing sessions. I am not as mobile as I would like to be. I have not shopped in a while. My coffee mug and I have parted way though I look at it longingly. Sigh! The less I talk about sleep or the lack of it, the better.
Yet each day he tells us a new story. Some funny ones when he falls asleep when I sit him down to burp him. He is such a sight! Some sad stories when he screams his lungs out or makes a really sad face while sleeping. Some mystery too when he stares away into the oblivion as if he is chatting up with a friend from his not very old last life. Amidst the many wails when he breaks into his toothless grin I know life is good. I still miss my 'good old days' but I will get there soon with my little big guy.
